FUN FACTS:

The Edmontosaurus roamed the Earth during the late Cretaceous period, approximately, 73 to 65.5 million years ago, was a herbivorous giant with a length of up to 42 feet and weighing up to 3.5 tons.

Edmontosaurus had a long, flat snout with a beak-like structure at the front, which it used to crop vegetation. it had rows of teeth in the back of its mouth that were continuously replaced throughout its life. Like other hadrosaurus, it had a series of dental batteries, filled with from 900-1200 teeth at any given time, which helped it efficiently grind plant material.

The Edmontosaurus has been called the Cattle of the Cretaceous Period, roaming in herds, providing fodder for the meat-eating giants of the period, such as the T-rex. It is believed to have been able to run on its two hind legs, or walk on all four.

The name Edmontosaurus is devised from the Edmonton Formation in Alberta, Canada, where the first fossils of this dinosaur were discovered.
